For patients without insurance

Membership plans

A membership plan is a flat yearly fee, paid to your office, that covers preventive care there and discounts the rest. Each office publishes its own plan — and none of them are dental insurance.

Plans from $199 / year (about $17/month, billed annually)

How it works

Four things to know first

  • You pay the office, not a carrier

One yearly fee, paid directly to the practice. No claims, no networks, no deductibles.

  • Built around preventive care

Each plan is built around exams and cleanings and discounts other treatment at that office. How many cleanings, and what else is included, is published by each office.

  • Same prices, different plans

All four offices use the same price tiers. Matching prices do not make the plans identical — what's included differs by office, so compare before you enroll.

  • A plan applies where it was sold

Membership applies at the office that sold it. Pick your office first, then enroll there.

What each office says about insurance

Complete Dental Centers doesn't publish a group-wide carrier list, because one doesn't exist — participation differs by office. Here's what each office publishes about its own coverage, in its own words:

Weighing a plan against coverage you already have? Read membership plans vs. dental insurance.

  • Beachside Dental Group

Beachside's approach is simple: "No insurance? No problem." Call the office to discuss your coverage.

  • Pacifica Dental

Pacifica works with a number of insurance companies — call the office to check yours.

  • Marina Dentistry

Marina Dentistry states it accepts all PPO and HMO plans, including Delta Dental and Anthem — confirm your plan with the office.

  • Rio Hondo Dental Group

Rio Hondo accepts most PPO and HMO plans — and is the group's office for Denti-Cal and Medi-Cal patients.

Common questions

Membership questions, answered plainly

How do the membership plans work?

A membership plan is a flat yearly fee paid directly to an office that covers your routine preventive care (exams and cleanings) and discounts other treatment. It is designed for patients without dental insurance, and it is not dental insurance.

The prices match; the plans still differ. All four offices publish the same price tiers — $199, $299, and $399 per year (individual, two people, family). What each plan includes differs by office: Pacifica, for example, includes three cleanings a year instead of two, and discount levels vary.

A plan generally applies only at the office that sold it, so pick your office first, then enroll. Full per-office details are on the membership page — and the office's front desk can confirm current terms when you call.

Is a membership plan the same as dental insurance?

No. A membership plan is not dental insurance. There is no insurance company, no claims, no deductibles, no annual maximum, and no network. You pay one yearly fee directly to the office, and in return your routine preventive care is included and other treatment at that office is discounted.

It is built for people paying out of pocket. If you want to see how the two compare, read membership plans vs. dental insurance.

Does a membership plan renew automatically?

Yes. A membership plan runs for one year and renews yearly until you cancel, so your preventive care and discounts continue without a gap. If you enroll online, the yearly renewal is charged to the card on file; if you enroll at the office, the front desk will tell you how that office handles renewal.

You can cancel before a renewal — see how to cancel. It is not dental insurance.

How do I cancel my membership?

Call the office that sold you the plan and the front desk will cancel it. Canceling stops the next yearly renewal; you keep the plan through the period you have already paid for.

If your office has turned on online billing management, you can also cancel yourself from the manage-membership page, where you can update your card and download receipts as well.

Can the membership price change later?

It can, but not by surprise. If you are already enrolled, your price stays the same unless the office decides to change it — and if it ever does, you get written notice at least 30 days before the change, which would only take effect at your next yearly renewal, never mid-year.

You are always free to cancel before a renewal if a new price does not work for you. Current prices are on the membership page.

What if I don't have dental insurance?

You can still be a patient at any of the four offices. No office in the group requires insurance, and two routes keep care affordable without it.

  • Membership plans — a flat yearly fee, paid to your office, that covers exams and cleanings and discounts other treatment. See membership.
  • Financing — third-party lenders that spread treatment cost over monthly payments, subject to credit approval. See financing.

If cost is the thing keeping you from booking, say so when you call — the front desk deals with this question every day. Or start with a appointment request and bring it up at your visit.

Do you take my insurance?

The honest answer: it depends on the office, so call the one you plan to visit and ask about your specific plan. Insurance participation differs across the four practices, and we don't publish a group-wide carrier list because one doesn't exist.

What each office publishes about its own approach:

Phone numbers for every office are on the contact page. If you have no insurance at all, see the next question — you have options.

Can I switch from one office to another?

Yes. You can book at whichever of the four offices suits you — patients move between them when they relocate or when a treatment is offered at one office and not another.

Three practical notes before you switch:

  • Each practice operates independently, so your records do not move automatically. Call the office that treated you and ask them to transfer your chart and X-rays.
  • Membership plans are sold per office and generally apply at the office that sold them — confirm with both offices before assuming benefits carry over.
  • Treatment menus differ. Check the new office's location page, or call, to confirm it offers the care you need.
